Folding Chair Revitalization

I gave a second life to some folding chairs that have been at my PawPaw’s farm for, well probably 30 or more years. They have just been sitting for at least 15 years so I grabbed them and gave them a new life….

With a little of this:

Rustoleum

Which may I add is AMAZING. I usually just go with what I “think” would work, but there was a Lowe’s employee right there so I asked what would be the best to use on HEAVY rust, like, been sitting on a farm for 30 years, rust. This is what he suggested. After a couple coats and then a hammered silver spray paint these:

Turned into these:

Considering nice solid metal chairs run $40 in the stores, I am thrilled with my little remodel for about $12.00.

Mud Room Re-Do

So I had a grand idea of updating my “mudroom” aka, catch all room by the garage. Everything seems to end up here. I had been eying some old oak pallets in my grandpa’s barn for a while and finally asked if I could have one. He couldn’t understand why I would want a 50+ year old pallet covered in cow poop! I had grand ideas to turn it into a wall hanger just like those awesome one’s on Pinterest! Well…..I started cleaning my 50+ year old oak pallet and it started falling apart. The wood was either petrified and hard as a rock or crumbly. So, after an impromptu trip to Ikea, here is what amazing happened!!

Now there is a spot for backpacks, jackets, purses and even things that need to go out the door soon, like class Valentines, and baby shower gifts!!

Obsessed with Spray Paint!

So, I think it’s official….I’m obsessed with spray paint. Here is just a quick project from a 50 cent metal tray from a garage sale.

Halloween Wreath

So I wanted something “Fall-ish” for my front door but I didn’t want to be too cheesy but in the same breath, I wanted it to be HALLOWEEN-ish because I love this time of year!! So, I started with a twig wreath I picked up at a garage sale for 50 cents and spray painted it lime green. (Thanks to Lowe’s and the Project starter coupon, I was able to pick up a few cans of spray paint for a couple of bucks!!)

As it was drying I worked on cutting a shape from the Silhouette store. I found this Happy Halloween graphic for only 50 cents so I had to pick it up! I cut it out using my Silhouette Cameo on black vinyl.

Then I applied the cut out to a little sign I picked up at Hobby Lobby in the Thanksgiving decor for 50% off. (Maybe I should change the name of this post to 50/50!) I like the sign because I feel like I could peel the vinyl off and change the wording for any event!!

I had some burlap “ribbon” that I rolled into these pretty flowers. I like to roll my flowers and sew them as I go.

Then I just put it all together! A little hot glue, and burlap to hang and now, my front door is ready for FALL!!!!

Hanging Herb Garden

This project began with an innocent trip to Canton with “the girls”! I found these quaint garden picks with herb names on them and for some reason just had to have them. They sat on my window seal for several months then a birthday trip to Ikea the second round of inspiration came in the form of cutlery holders. This is what I came up with. I love that my window seal is free but I still have some nice herbs in my kitchen ready and waiting for me!
